I aquired Vin# 1517644, "Harold", my 1967 1600-2 sunroof coupe a couple years ago from the 2nd owner who had him for 35+ years (and named him Harold). The 1600 was carefully maintained mechanically with 159k original miles on the original motor with no accidents or repainting.

Harold is 100% stock and original specification, and all the uniqe 1967-only parts are there including the fully functional 6-volt system. My car was built in February 1967 and delivered to its home in California in March, where it has lived ever since rust-free.

I have restored the interior to original spec, including german square-weave carpets in the original dark brown color, uncracked european 3-pc dash with new chrome, new headliner, re-stuffed seats, and re-backed door panels with amazingly new-looking vinyl.

The exterior has new emblems and beltline trim, but is otherwise original. The original Florida Green paint looks OK from a couple feet, aside from lots of small parking lot rash/dings. I've cleaned it up the best I can and plan to repaint it in the original color in a few more years to complete the restoration.

Harold is one of the earliest US-spec 02's still on the road in the USA based on the 2002 registry and people I've talked to over the years and maybe the only one in 100% original condition with no missing / non-original parts. Harold is not a garage queen, I drive him 2 days a week minimum except when its raining or he's needing mechanical repairs.

I plan to keep this 1600-2 many years if not forever.
